What is the Store View program?
You may notice Instacart shoppers walking the store aisles using the Instacart app. They may be conducting a Store View scan — a brief capture of shelf imagery such as product availability and stock levels.
This is part of Instacart's services provided to participating retailers and takes only a few minutes to complete.
How does Store View protect my privacy?
Your privacy matters. Here's how Instacart handles any imagery captured during Store View scans:
- Images are limited to shelves and aisles, and any faces are blurred.
- Our technology relies on in-store images captured by shoppers to identify products and shelf placement. If a face is incidentally captured, it's automatically blurred.
- The images we collect and the data we derive is shelf inventory information — things like product availability and placement. No personal data is kept.
