Convert personal account to business account
The ability to convert a personal account to a business account directly in the app or on the website is not currently available.
If you primarily use your personal account for business orders and would like to explore converting it to a business account, please email business@instacart.com. Our team can review your situation and discuss options.
When you reach out, please share:
- The email address on your Instacart account
- Whether you already have any business accounts with Instacart
- How you currently use Instacart for business vs. personal orders
Good to know about converting accounts
If your personal account is converted to a business account, you:
- Lose access to certain personal features, including:
- Restaurant orders
- Family accounts
- EBT SNAP payment methods
- Cannot switch that same account back to a personal account after conversion.
You can have both a personal and business account with Instacart, but if you convert an existing personal account into a business account, that specific account:
- Will be treated as a business account going forward
- Will not regain access to personal‑only features (restaurant, family accounts, EBT SNAP) even if you later also use it for personal needs
If you’re unsure whether you should convert or instead create a separate business account, email business@instacart.com and our team can help you choose the best setup for your needs.
Connect to a business account
Connecting to a business account lets you order through the business you work for. You’ll receive an email invitation from the account owner, and once connected, you can start placing orders.
Your new account connects to your company’s business account.
