Using Apple Intelligence to Shop on Instacart
This feature requires iOS 18 or later and the latest Instacart app update.
If you have an iOS device, you can use Siri to shop on Instacart. This feature is available on iPhone, HomePod, and AirPods.
Supported Siri Voice Commands
You can use Siri by speaking on iPhone, HomePod, or AirPods.

| “Hey Siri, shop at [store name] on Instacart” | Opens Buy It Again for that specific store |
| “Hey Siri, shop [product name] on Instacart” | Adds the item to your cart (limited to your top 25 Buy It Again items — say the product name clearly) |
| “Hey Siri, open [product name] on Instacart” | Opens the product page in the Instacart app |
Type to Siri
If you prefer to type to Siri instead of speaking, you can enable Type to Siri in your device settings. It supports all the same Instacart voice phrases via text input.
- Go to Settings.
- Select Accessibility.
- Select Siri.
- Toggle on Type to Siri. When you press and hold the side button, Siri will allow you to type your request rather than speaking it.
Buy It Again Shortcut
Create a custom shortcut using the Shortcuts app on iPhone. This lets you quickly add your essentials to cart without using a voice command.
To create the shortcut:
- Open the Shortcuts app and tap the + icon in the upper right corner.
- Tap New Shortcut, then tap Rename and type Buy It Again.
- In the Search Actions section, type Instacart.
- Tap Shop “Buy It Again”.
- Add Quantity / Weight (lb), Product, and Store.
Example: Add 2x Fresh Large Green Bell Peppers to Kroger Cart
To use the shortcut:
- Open the Shortcuts app.
- Tap Shop — your “Buy It Again” items will be automatically added to your cart.
Core Spotlight Search
Core Spotlight search is only available on iPhone.
Your recently purchased Instacart products now show up in your iPhone’s system search. To use it:
- Swipe down from the middle of your home screen to open Search.
- Type the name of a product you’ve previously purchased on Instacart.
- Tap the Instacart result to open the product directly in the app.

Troubleshooting
Siri doesn’t respond to my Instacart commands
- Check that your device is on iOS 18 or later: Settings > General > Software Update
- Update the Instacart app in the App Store
- Enable Siri for Instacart: Settings > Siri & Search > Instacart > turn on all options
My product wasn’t added to cart
- This only works for your top 25 Buy It Again items
- Say the product name as exactly as possible
Siri asked me to choose a store
This is expected — Siri prompts you when the same product was bought at more than one store.
